Weldcote’s back-up pads extend resin-fiber disc life by up to 50 percent and provide higher RPM ratings.

KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA – May 2023 – Weldcote, a division of Zika Group, offers air-cooled, rubber back-up pads that are designed to extend the life of resin-fiber discs and keep the workpiece cooler.

Designed to be used with right-angle grinders, the U.S.-made line of back-up pads are available in a variety of sizes and spiral and smooth styles, ranging from 4″ to 9″. The spiral pattern style contains spiral ribs to provide contact points and form channels for airflow, extending disc life up to 50 percent.

The enhanced mechanical and chemical bond between the rubber pad and metal provide increased airflow and higher RPM ratings. Flexible rubber back-up pads are recommended for working on contours, while more rigid pads are better suited to last longer on aggressive grinding applications.

“Our air-cooled rubber back-up pads are designed to increase airflow and keep the workpiece cooler,” said Joe O’Mera, CEO of Weldcote. “Using these pads can increase the life of resin-fiber discs by up to 50 percent.”
